50th Hawaiian Luau for my mom.  I planned a Hawaiian Luau (pool side) for my mom's 5oth birthday.

First I sent out invitations that I made myself.  I purchased computer paper from Office Depot that had Hawaiian flowers on it.  The invitations read, Wear your Hawaiian shirts and Hula skirts and we'll provide the leis, Eat out by the pool and limbo like a fool, It's a Hawaiian Luau celebrating the 50th birthday of Pam B. Saturday May 10 @ 2:00 p.m. Home of Etc. At the bottom of the invitation I put Don't forget to dress in your luau best!

As each person arrive they were presented with a lei and a mini packet of glitter sunscreen that I made lablels for that read thanks for sharing in Pam's 50th birthday. They also recieved a mints that Aloha printed on them.  Each guest also signed a autograph hula bear with a special message for mom (which I  presented to her at the end of the party).

The tables each had a different color tablecloths(green, orange, yellow and blue). The centerpieces were hula girls and I also made centerpieces out of ceramic bowls filled with different colored sand and a tea light in each one.  I purchased 2 inflatable palm trees and a inflatable tiki pole (these were sitting around the  pool area.) I made my back porch into a "tiki hut" using grass skirting with flowers and lights this was also the entrance to my living room where we had a buffet set up.

For the food we had chicken kabobs, vegetable kabobs, rice, tomato and cucumber salad and teriake chicken wings.  Everyone loved the food.  The buffet tables were decorated with different colored tablecloths and had flower petals sprinkled on them with mini tiki torches for centerpieces.

For games we played limbo, pass the coconut, and musical beach towel.  For the prizes each person got a hibiscus printed bag filled with a sandal magnet, hibicus pen, mints and sunscreen.

Everyone came dressed in their luau best and I presented my mom with a fresh flower lei to wear for the party that I ordered direct from Hawaii (  she loved it).

I had a cake made for the adults and cupcakes for the children.  For the children at the party I had a table set up with coloring sheets and supplies for making braclets we served the children hot dogs, chips and juice.  During the party I had a CD playing with hawaiian music.

The party turned out great!  People are still talking about how much fun they had.  My mom said she will never forget it! (All of my decorations came from Oriental Trading Co. and I also got a lot of ideas from this website)  I hope my ideas can help someone eles have a memorable party for their loved one!
